Vice Ganda Gives Real Talk on Fear of Getting Hu:rt in Love

Vice Ganda opens up about the inevitable pain that comes with love, urging everyone not to let fear hold them back from fully embracing the beauty of romantic relationships.
Comedian and host Vice Ganda delivered a heartfelt and candid reflection on the realities of love and emotional vulnerability on the popular ABS-CBN noontime show It’s Showtime. His message gave viewers an honest perspective on the emotional risks tied to romantic relationships.

Vice
Ganda, whose real name is Jose Marie Viceral, is a celebrated Filipino comedian, TV host, actor, singer, and entrepreneur. Best known for his role as the primary host of It’s Showtime and his hit films like Praybeyt Benjamin, Fantastica, and The Super Parental Guardians, Vice is also a prominent advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and an influential figure in Filipino pop culture.

During the show, Vice addressed the unavoidable link between love and pain. He said:
"When you give someone the opportunity to love you, you’re opening the possibility of being hurt by that person because mahal mo siya… Magkambal sila. ’Pag minahal ka niya, masasaktan at masasaktan ka niya. Kasi hindi ka masasaktan ng tao kundi mo mahal."

He explained that pain is not merely a risk but an intrinsic part of love itself, and that accepting this truth enhances the depth of emotional experience.

Vice further stated, You just have to accept and embrace that fact because that’s part of being in love. That hurt will add beauty to that kind of love that you will feel. So don’t over protect yourself from getting hurt because whatever you do, you will still get hurt and that is a fact.”

He ended his reflection with a powerful reminder not to let fear deprive people of the full richness of love:
"Yung fear will take away that chance to experience the beauty of that one thing."

His honest words struck a chord with many viewers who applauded his insight into the courage required to fully open oneself to love despite the potential for pain.

In a prior report from KAMI, Vice Ganda issued a timely reminder following the disqualification of contestant Marco Adobas from the TNT All-Star Grand Resbak 2025 competition. Adobas was removed for violating terms agreed upon in a waiver signed by all TNT “resbakers.” Upon announcing this, Vice Ganda cautioned everyone to be careful about the agreements they sign, stating, Iba ang opinyon, pero iba ang akusasyon.”

Furthermore, Vice was taken aback when one contestant revealed a lack of knowledge about the COMELEC (Commission on Elections). During the weekly finals of S3xy Babe, a 20-year-old finalist was asked, Ano ang mensahe mo sa COMELEC?” The contestant replied, Sorry po, hindi po ako masyadong knowledgeable about sa COMELEC.”
