Ian de Leon has appealed to the public to honor his family’s privacy amidst increasing curiosity surrounding the estate left by his late mother, the iconic Nora Aunor.
During the special screening of Faney—a tribute film to Aunor held in observance of what would have been her 72nd birthday—De Leon addressed questions regarding his mother’s assets.
“It remains confidential,” he told reporters. “What we have been discussing is personal. I hope people will respect that.”
Ian, accompanied by his wife, children, and brother Kenneth at the event, expressed gratitude toward the community of actors and fans who continue to support Aunor’s legacy even after her death.
“Of course, our inspiration here is our mom. Thank God this was released on her birthday […] We are humbled because you know the wholehearted effort they are making to continue Mommy’s legacy,” he shared.
Directed by Adolf Alix Jr., Faney narrates the story of a devoted Noranian who learns about Aunor’s passing, highlighting the sacrifices and joyous moments of being her fan. Ian de Leon makes a special appearance in the film.
Meanwhile, May 26 also marks the 40th day since Nora Aunor’s death due to acute respiratory failure. Ian, together with siblings Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth, visited their mother’s resting place at the Libingan ng mga Bayani to commemorate the occasion.
Lotlot de Leon posted on Instagram, “It’s been 40 days since you left us, but not a single day goes by without us thinking of you. Your resting place at LNMB is beautiful, Mommy. Still surrounded by flowers, even after all this time.”
She also reminisced about their mother’s advice, saying, “I couldn’t help but remember when you told me and Matet, ‘Magmahalan kayong lima, ha (The five of you should love each other).’ Ma, hanggang ngayon, ‘yang bilin mo—susundin at isasabuhay namin (Mom, up to this day, we still abide by your request).”
“It’s still hard, Ma. There are moments when I have so much I want to say, I can’t put it into words. But when I think of you, and I know you’re in a better place,” Lotlot added.
