John Rendez, still grieving the loss of Nora Aunor: “I’ll never forget you”

John Rendez expresses deep sorrow over the passing of his dear friend and beloved superstar, Nora Aunor. Despite the passage of time, the loss remains a painful reality that he continues to cope with.

It has been exactly one month since the legendary Nora Aunor, the Superstar and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, passed away on April 16, 2025. While her devoted fans continue to mourn her death, John Rendez, a close friend of Nora, remains deeply affected by her passing.



John, who shared a unique bond with Nora, referred to her as Pupoy while she affectionately called him Pupoy as well. One of Nora's lasting memories for John is her pet dog, Rocky, which he now takes care of. He shared how precious these memories are, as well as his deep feelings of loss and sadness.

In an interview on April 22, John expressed his heartache, revealing that not being able to say a final goodbye to Nora was a major source of grief. “My greatest hurt is that I was not able to see her one last time before she was put into the ground,” John said. He added that by the time he arrived, Nora’s coffin had already been closed.

John’s social media posts and heartfelt messages reflect his sorrow, especially on the anniversary of Nora’s birth on May 21, and the 40th day of her death on May 25. He plans to visit her resting place at the Libingan ng mga Bayani and also her hometown in Iriga City, Camarines Sur.

In a touching post, John wrote, “I try to pretend when I get home you will be there and it makes me very sad.” He further shared his deepest emotions, stating, “Not one night or day passes by that I don’t think about her.”

John expressed his gratitude for the love and happiness Nora brought into his life, calling her the one good thing that gave him purpose, hope, and unconditional love. “I love you so much. Higit pa sa buhay ko. Hopelessly devoted po ako sa iyo,” he wrote in his emotional message.



As John continues to grapple with the loss of Nora, he fondly remembers her as “my one and only true love, my soulmate.” His message ends with a heartfelt, “I’ll never forget you po. God bless you po, Miss Nora Aunor.”
