LOOK: Filipinos who graced Cannes Film Festival 2025

Here’s a look at some of the Filipino stars who heated up the Cannes red carpet and joined the fashion elite during the event.

As the 2025 Cannes Film Festival wrapped up another successful edition, a growing number of Filipino celebrities made their mark on the prestigious event. Aside from promoting the premiere of Filipino films, many homegrown talents shone as fashion brand ambassadors.

Here’s a look at some of the Filipino stars who heated up the Cannes red carpet and joined the fashion elite during the event.

Pia Wurtzbach

Pia Wurtzbach exuded old Hollywood glamour at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, showcasing the perfect balance of sophistication and modernity. The Miss Universe 2015 titleholder stunned in a black velvet gown by Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad. The gown featured long sleeves, a high neckline, and a bodice embellished with pearls and rhinestone crystals, complemented by a dramatic open back.

Wurtzbach didn’t stop there - she also donned a second look: a simple yet striking strapless black velvet gown with a flowing mermaid-style satin skirt. The skirt was beautifully ruched and adorned with black flowers at the back, giving the look an added dramatic flair.

Sylvia Sanchez

After years of attending Cannes as a producer, Sylvia Sanchez marked a significant milestone by walking the red carpet alongside her team after one of the films co-produced by her film studio was selected for the Cannes Main Competition. The film “Renoir” is a collaborative effort between the Philippines, France, Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Marina Summers

Marina Summers made history as the first Filipino drag queen to walk the red carpet at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. She radiated confidence and elegance in a one-shoulder sequined black gown paired with chain-link earrings, making a bold fashion statement.

The moment was made even more special when Summers had a fangirl encounter with Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie. After complimenting Summers on her appearance, Summers was glowing in her second look, a stunning gold pleated gown.

Michael Cinco

Renowned Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco joined the star-studded event, walking the red carpet for the premiere of Scarlett Johansson’s debut film Eleanor The Great. Cinco wore a sleek black tuxedo suit, complete with his signature oversized sunglasses, adding a fashionable flair to the event.

Chelsea Manalo

Miss Universe 2025 – Asia, Chelsea Manalo, made her Cannes red carpet debut in a couture yellow fan gown by Michael Cinco, designed with an extravagant one-shoulder collar. Despite the new dress code, Manalo maintained the festival’s high-fashion standard, dedicating the moment to "every Filipino who dared to dream."

"Walking the red carpet at Cannes still feels like a dream, one that I manifested, believed in, and held close to my heart. I’ve always trusted that everything happens for a reason, and this journey to France has proven just that," she wrote in an Instagram post.

Kylie Verzosa

Miss International 2016, Kylie Verzosa, embodied the essence of “summer mornings” in a butter yellow strapless, petal-shaped ensemble by Mark Bumgarner. Later, she made another fashionable appearance in a shimmering black fringe gown adorned with crystal beads, showcasing her versatility on the red carpet.

Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano

For the celebrity couple Toni Gonzaga and Paul Soriano, the Cannes Film Festival was a combination of work and vacation. Toni shared glimpses of their trip on Instagram, including their dining experiences in France and a snapshot at the symbol of Cannes. Gonzaga was also seen wearing her festival ID in one of the images.

In one of the videos, Toni wore a simple black long gown with quarter sleeves and a modest neckline while accompanying her husband to the screening of Magellan, a film directed by Lav Diaz.

Lav Diaz

Filipino filmmaker Lav Diaz returned to Cannes for the premiere of his latest film, Magellan, starring the award-winning Hollywood actor Gael García Bernal. The film received a standing ovation at the Debussy Theatre on the Croisette, lasting for five minutes.

Along with Diaz and Bernal, several Filipino actors graced the premiere, including Bong Cabrera, who played Raja Kulambo; Amado Arjay Babon, who portrayed Magellan’s slave and interpreter Enrique; and Rafa Siguion-Reyna, who played Nuno.

Arvin Belarmino and Kyla Danelle Romero

Filipino directors Arvin Belarmino and Kyla Danelle Romero competed in the Official Short Film Competition with their film Agapito. The duo also worked as screenwriters for the short film Ali, by Bangladeshi filmmaker Adnan Al Rajeev, which won a special prize at the festival.
