Kylie Padilla opens up about past childbirth complications, urges support for mothers

She further revealed the struggles she faced with b:reastfeeding her children, noting how the accumulated stress took a severe toll on her physical and mental health.

Kylie Padilla opened up about her past challenges following childbirth, urging greater support for mothers, including paid maternity leave and increased awareness about postpartum depression.

The actress recently reshared a heartbreaking story on Facebook about a mother from Sta. Maria, Bulacan, who tragically set her home ablaze with her three children inside, reportedly overwhelmed by postpartum depression and poverty.

Padilla expressed how the story resonated deeply with her, recalling her own difficult experience after the birth of her second child when she was unable to walk for approximately three months.

“My last post is very personal to me. After giving birth to my second son, I also suffered and still suffer from complications of childbirth or ‘binat’ as they call it. There were also complications from my spinal cord injection. I could not walk for about 3 months without my lower body shaking and headaches, nerve pain, and over fatigue,” she shared.

She further revealed the struggles she faced with b:reastfeeding her children, noting how the accumulated stress took a severe toll on her physical and mental health.

“All the stress, anxiety, and body pain absolutely took a toll on my body. I never thought I would ever recover. I never thought I would ever get past that dark place that I was in. My support system then was also lacking. It’s hard to explain to those who could not understand the concept of ‘binat,’” Kylie explained.

The celebrity mom acknowledged her privilege in having the financial means to support herself during those difficult times, highlighting that many other mothers are not as fortunate.

“Anyway, this post is not about me. I had savings and I had the ability to support myself. But not all moms have this. So I am urging people to push for paid maternity leave and postpartum depression awareness,” she continued.

“Mothers deserve time to rest their bodies and minds after childbirth. They deserve to be able to take care of themselves as well as their children. We need a world where everyone feels supported! So our moms can better take care of our children!” she concluded.

Padilla is a mother of two sons, Alas and Axl, whom she shares with her ex-husband, actor Aljur Abrenica. The couple married in 2018 but announced their separation after three years together.

Abrenica is currently in a relationship with AJ Raval, while Padilla has remained private regarding her rumored relationship with a non-showbiz partner.
