Kristel Fulgar Shares How Her Husband’s Conversion to INC Proved He Was ‘The One’
Kristel Fulgar opens up about her husband Ha Su-hyuk’s heartfelt journey to convert to Iglesia ni Cristo, revealing how this commitment confirmed their destined love.
Kristel Fulgar recently disclosed that her husband, Ha Su-hyuk’s willingness to embrace her faith, Iglesia ni Cristo (INC), was the pivotal factor that made her realize he was truly “the one” for her.

In an interview with Toni Gonzaga on Sunday, May 18, the content creator and former child star shared intimate details about their relationship, emphasizing Ha’s dedication to understanding her religion and embracing belief in God.
“It was quite a long process, it took him 11 months. He was always present during our bible studies, and there were also some tests that required him to attend continuously. And he was able to attend without fail. It was really an effort for him. and Even when I was not in Korea, he would come to church on his own,” Kristel explained in Filipino.
Despite her deep appreciation for Korean culture, Fulgar clarified that she had never intended to have a Korean partner.
“It’s one of the misconceptions about me because I’m so into Korean culture. Since I stayed in Korea for a long time, I became open to its dating culture and their personalities. What you see in K-dramas is different from real life,” she added.
Fulgar described Ha as a man who defies Korea’s typically fast-paced dating scene, favoring instead a “slow burn and patient” approach to love.
“Their dating culture is fast-paced. If I like you, and you like me, then we’re now dating. That’s it. They have no courtship. But that’s what I appreciate about him. He is a classic type of man. He doesn’t like Korea’s modern style of dating. He wants a slow-burn and patient kind of love. He really appreciates my values,” she shared.
Kristel considers their love story as one carefully “plotted by God,” unfolding at the perfect time after she prayed for a partner.
“One of the reasons why he believes in God is that he believes I’m a gift from God. I also believe that he is a gift from God. When he was courting me, he said that he wanted to marry me,” she revealed.
The couple celebrated their wedding on May 10 at Luna Miele events place in Seoul, South Korea. Honoring Korean tradition, Kristel retained her surname after marriage, as in Korean culture, a married woman keeps her maiden name, which is instead passed on to their children.
