Kitty’s tattoo and her words reflect a deep commitment to her father and the ongoing battle he faces, underscoring the personal and emotional toll it has taken on their family.
Veronica “Kitty” Duterte, the daughter of former President Rodrigo Duterte, recently made a personal statement of support for her father by getting his name permanently tattooed on her arm. The tattoo serves as a symbolic gesture of her dedication to him, especially given the challenges he is facing.

On Monday, the same day as the 2025 midterm elections, Kitty posted a photo on her Instagram Story, showing off the fresh tattoo that bears the name of her father, who is currently detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. He faces allegations of crimes against humanity, and his detention has been a significant source of public attention and controversy.
In a separate post, Kitty shared a heartfelt message from her father in response to her letter and the new tattoo. The message, relayed through a text from The Hague, revealed the emotional impact of her gesture on the former president.

“PRRD got very emotional today when I read him your letter. He started tearing up and crying. He said that ‘it’s very special to what these words coming from her. It’s different. There’s something about daughters – they’re so special. Sons are good but daughters are…. Daughters’,” the message read.
The message went on to describe a lighthearted moment when Kitty’s father reacted to the news of her getting a tattoo. “He also rolled his eyes and made a grimace when I told him you got a new tattoo but then smiled when he saw it and when I continued with your letter, telling him that he couldn’t scold you for being a Duterte and for getting his name.”
The message further revealed that the letter “R” in the tattoo was taken from the former president’s own handwriting, making the tattoo even more personal and meaningful.

Earlier this month, Kitty had spoken out about her frustrations over her father’s situation during the miting de avance of senatorial candidate Rodante Marcoleta at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. In her speech on May 6, Kitty expressed her reluctance to be drawn into politics, but explained why she felt compelled to speak out.
“I am just a 21-year-old college student and I don’t want to get involved in politics. But because of the kidnapping and abuse of my father, I am here now to fight not only for my family but for the country of the Philippines,” she said, sharing her personal reasons for supporting her father’s cause.
