Miss Universe 2018, Catriona Gray, has shared some valuable advice with Ahtisa Manalo, the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2025, ahead of her journey to the Miss Universe competition in Thailand this November.
Before Ahtisa even took home the title, Catriona reached out with her encouragement, urging her to "enjoy the journey" and not to succumb to the online pressures that often come with being in the spotlight.
“My advice to whoever our future Miss Universe Philippines is who’ll be crowned tonight is to really enjoy the journey,” Catriona said in an interview with News5. She also emphasized the importance of focusing on the bigger picture, adding, “I just hope this next couple of months, she doesn’t allow ‘yung pressure, ‘yung noise sa social media to really distract her.”
For Catriona, it’s crucial that Ahtisa remains grounded and remembers her purpose during this life-changing experience. “Sana she remembers why she’s there, what her core is, whether that be to go after a dream or to support her community or to make her family proud, just hold on to that,” she advised.
Additionally, Catriona urged Ahtisa to cherish each moment of her reign as Miss Universe Philippines, knowing that it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. “Kasi it will go so fast and talagang once in a lifetime experience ‘yan to be able to raise our flag on the Miss Universe stage," she said.
Catriona also offered her support, saying, “I hope she enjoys it, and I hope she feels free to reach out and I am happy to give her advice.”
Ahtisa's pageant journey has been remarkable, having previously won Miss Cosmo Philippines and making it to the top 10 at an international competition. In 2018, she competed in Binibining Pilipinas, where she placed as the first runner-up in Miss International.
