Actor and politician Jomari Yllana discussed the postponement of his church wedding to wife Abby Viduya, which was initially set for 2024 in the Philippines. This came after the couple’s civil wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 5, 2023.

In his explanation, Jomari shared that Abby’s mother passed away last year, and the couple chose to postpone the church ceremony as a sign of respect for the grieving period. They both believed in the concept of “sukob,” a Filipino superstition that suggests bad luck when major life events, such as weddings or funerals, happen too close together.

Jomari said, "Kasi nagsukob, yung mommy niya passed away," referring to Abby’s mother’s passing. When asked if it could indeed be called "sukob," he responded, "Sukob daw, e. According to them, to her family, sukob daw, e." He went on to explain, “The mom passed away in the same... Oo, sukob. Paano kang magwe-wedding kung namatay haligi ng pamilya? So, namatay. Urong. Jomari’s term as councilor in Parañaque is nearing its end, and Abby is currently running for the same position, which has further delayed their wedding plans.

Jomari shared these insights during a press conference for Motorsport Carnivale 2025 at Okada Manila, Parañaque City, on April 29, 2025. The event, organized by Okada Manila and Yllana Racing, is a collaboration that began on May 4, 2025, with several more activities lined up, including a tarmac challenge in Lubang, Mindoro, in June and the Jom's Cup drag racing event at Okada Manila later in the month.

Jomari Yllana: The Wedding Proposal and Their Love Story

On August 20, 2023, Abby announced that Jomari had proposed to her at The Peak in Hong Kong, a moment she described as unforgettable.

Before this, on February 26, 2023, Jomari had gone to Abby’s home in Parañaque for the traditional pamamanhikan (asking for the hand in marriage from the family), a Filipino custom.

Jomari and Abby have both shared their love story multiple times, recounting how their relationship initially faced challenges, including other relationships they had before finding each other again.
