Bobby Yan, the brother of the late matinee idol Rico Yan, has drawn criticism for featuring his late sibling’s face in his campaign materials for the Cabuyao, Laguna council seat. Social media users quickly noticed the prominent display of Rico’s image on Bobby’s campaign posters, prompting many to wonder if the deceased actor was the one running for office.

One user, @auntieselina_, jokingly asked, “Is Rico running? Just kidding.”

Meanwhile, another @vanilladeee and other netizens urged Bobby to let Rico rest, noting that he has been dead for quite some time.



One comment, posted by @jahjoken_, voiced disapproval, saying: “I’m sorry, but why would you use Rico Yan for your candidacy? The person has been dead for a long time. It’s not like he’s endorsing you. I don’t know you, but I know you can do better than this. This is just so WRONG.”



Despite the criticisms, some Facebook users defended Bobby, arguing that it’s acceptable for him to use his brother’s image, as they are family. However, as of press time, Bobby has not addressed the backlash but continues his campaign for Councilor in Cabuyao City.
