‘Still friends’: Cassandra Ynares denies rumors about being romantically pursued by Bimby Aquino

A video showing Cassandra and Bimby dancing to “Me Jalo” previously caught attention and sparked speculations about their chemistry as a possible love team in the future.

Cassandra Ynares, daughter of Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares and former mayor Andrea Ynares, has put an end to the rumors suggesting she is romantically pursued by Bimby Aquino, son of TV host Kris Aquino.

Fresh from her participation in the Maytime Antipolo Festival parade last Saturday, May 17, Cassandra briefly spoke with PEP.ph to clarify the nature of her relationship with Bimby.

When asked if Bimby was courting her, she made it clear that they have been close friends for years—long before the pandemic—and that there is no romantic involvement between them.

“We’re just really close and it’s so nice to have a friend in that industry as well,” Cassandra said. “We haven’t really talked about [the rumors]. Like, nothing happened. We’re still friends and that’s how we treat each other.”

Cassandra also recently visited Kris Aquino, who, according to Cassandra, spoke warmly about her and expressed fondness.

“Very grateful po that Tita Kris likes me like that,” Cassandra shared about their meeting. “It’s really an honor that she said so much about me. I don’t know what to say except I’m really flattered.”

When asked if she was the girl Kris once named as her favorite match for Bimby, Cassandra laughed and responded, “Puwede ba, secret na lang?”

Despite the buzz surrounding them, Cassandra said both she and Bimby choose to ignore the rumors and online speculations.

“We haven’t really talked about it. Like, nothing happened. We’re still friends and that’s how we treat each other po,” she reiterated.

She also addressed the public about believing everything online, cautioning, “You know, what you see, don’t always believe. Don’t believe what you see online.”

“It’s really nice to have a friend in that industry as well,” she added. “I mean, as a friend, obviously, you enjoy a friend’s company and, yeah, it’s nice to have him around. He’s a good friend.”

A video showing Cassandra and Bimby dancing to “Me Jalo” previously caught attention and sparked speculations about their chemistry as a possible love team in the future.

Adding to the curiosity, the two were reportedly seen together at a local event in Sitio Mansetta, Barangay Cupang, earlier in May, where they performed a duet of the classic love song “On The Wings of Love,” and later joined a group dance on stage.

In April, Bimby also attended Cassandra’s youth-led event in Antipolo, where she launched the “Cassma Foundation,” a project focused on promoting emotional and mental wellness among high school students.

When asked if she was open to being paired with Bimby as a love team, she chuckled, “Not yet!” noting that she is not allowed to have a boyfriend at this stage in her life.

Regarding a possible entry into showbiz, Cassandra said it remains a topic of discussion with her mother.

“Maybe. I still have to talk to Mom about it. But hopefully, yeah. Hindi po ako sure e,” she said.

For now, Cassandra, who gained attention after attending this year’s ABS-CBN Ball, is prioritizing her education and youth advocacy work in Antipolo.

Meanwhile, Bimby has expressed intentions to pursue a degree in Legal Management while continuing to care for his mother, who is currently battling autoimmune diseases.

Cassandra Danielle Bautista-Ynares, known as Cassandra Ynares, is the daughter of Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro "Junjun" Ynares III and former mayor Andrea Bautista-Ynares. In April 2025, she made her debut at the ABS-CBN Ball, accompanied by her mother and fashion designer Paul Cabral. Despite her exposure to the entertainment industry, Cassandra has expressed a desire to focus on her studies first, with potential interest in acting after graduation.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Cassandra is dedicated to youth development and welfare, particularly in promoting children's mental health. She founded "Cassma," an organization aimed at fostering emotional and mental well-being among high school students in Antipolo. Her advocacy efforts have garnered attention, including support from public figures like Kris Aquino. Cassandra's recent public appearances, such as participating in the "Me Jalo" dance trend with Bimby Aquino, have sparked online discussions, though she has clarified that they are close friends and not romantically involved .
