A video recently went viral showing David Chua emotionally crying while attending a concert by the band Bandang Lapis in Tondo, Manila. The group was performing their hit song "Kabilang Buhay", and David was visibly moved as he stood near the stage, singing along with the band.

Several vloggers approached David to speak with him, and he opened up about the reasons behind his tears. “Nakakahiya naman,” David said, with red and swollen eyes. “Yung lyrics kasi, naalala ko lang kasi yung mom ko na sumakabilang-buhay noong 2020, nung kasagsagan ng pandemic."
He continued, “Mas ramdam ko lang kasi yung song dahil malapit nang mag-Mother’s Day, and naalala ko lang kung paano kami usually nagse-celebrate.”
David shared how close he was to his mother during her lifetime. He explained, "Kasi nga, since lumaki ako na walang tatay, yung mom ko lang talaga yung constant sa buhay ko, lalo na nung nagsisimula pa lang akong mag-artista. Siya lang talaga yung nagsu-support sa akin noon."
David Chua’s Closure with His Estranged Father
David's emotional moment also touched on his relationship with his father, who passed away at 70 on March 21. He revealed that he had only seen his father twice since his parents separated. Despite this, David admitted that the loss still affected him.
“Pero iba kasi yun, e. Iba kasi yung tama nun sa akin. Ang sa akin lang, masaya lang ako na nagkaroon na kami ng closure at pinatawad ko na rin siya," he shared, expressing relief and peace after reconciling with his father. "And alam niyo, gumaan talaga yung feeling ko mula noon. Nawala na yung hinanakit na matagal kong dinadala."
Mother’s Day Plans
With Mother’s Day approaching, David shared his plans for the special day. "Plano kong bisitahin yung mom ko sa libingan. Tapos after that, meron kaming maliit na salu-salu sa Tondo."
He continued, "Dasal ko lang, sana andiyan pa rin yung nanay ko na patuloy na gumagabay sa akin. At sana proud pa rin siya sa mga kabutihang ginagawa ko para sa mga kababayan namin sa Tondo, sa pamamagitan ng aming advocacy na Damayan sa Distrito Dos."
