Director Joel Lamangan has revealed his plans to produce a biographical film about the late Nora Aunor, one of the Philippines' most iconic actresses and singers. Lamangan paid tribute to Aunor on Friday, April 18, 2025, through a heartfelt post on Facebook, sharing memories of their collaborations and the deep respect they had for each other.

Lamangan and Aunor worked together on several memorable films, including The Flor Contemplacion Story, Muling Umawit ang Puso, Bakit May Kahapon Pa?, Sidhi, Hustisya, and Isa Pang Bahaghari. Lamangan recalled how they would often have detailed conversations before starting a project, ensuring they were aligned on the film’s message and direction.

“The first thing we did before embarking on a film project was have a thorough conversation about what we wanted to convey and how we were going to do it! Our talks were often deep, with disagreements and occasional raised voices, but in the end, she would say, ‘It’s up to you, director, I believe in you.’ That was the respect Ate Guy had,” Lamangan shared.

He also fondly remembered Aunor’s kindness and commitment to fairness, especially toward crew members. "Ate Guy was kind to everyone she worked with. She couldn’t stand seeing anyone being oppressed, especially the crew who were underpaid. On the last day of filming, she would always make sure to give financial help to everyone," Lamangan said.

Lamangan and fellow screenwriter Ricky Lee had long discussed creating a film about Aunor's life, but unfortunately, Aunor passed away before the project could be realized. Lamangan expressed his regret that the film couldn't be completed in time, saying, "We had planned an important film that would be written by our friend Ricky Lee, the Nora Aunor Story. We spoke to the producer and were just waiting for the right time. It’s unfortunate that Ate Guy is no longer with us, but we will continue with it."

Nora Aunor passed away on April 16, 2025, at the age of 71. Details regarding the cause of her death have not been immediately disclosed.
