In an emotional press conference on April 17, 2025, Ian de Leon, together with his siblings Lotlot, Matet, and Kenneth, publicly honored their late mother, Nora Aunor, and clarified the circumstances surrounding her death. Ian, the only biological child of Nora and her former husband Christopher de Leon, explained that his mother did not pass away during an operation, as some reports had suggested.

At the press conference, Ian spoke on behalf of his siblings and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the public for their overwhelming love and support during this difficult time. Clarification Regarding Nora Aunor's Death

During the press conference, Ian was asked about rumors that suggested Nora’s death was a result of complications from surgery. Ian clarified, "She did not die during the surgery. She was undergoing an operation, and after that, she struggled to breathe, which led to complications. That’s when another procedure had to be performed."

While Ian did not elaborate on the exact cause of death, he confirmed that Nora had been hospitalized on April 10, 2025, and underwent angioplasty on April 16. Angioplasty is a medical procedure used to open blocked coronary arteries, often to treat heart conditions. It was also reported that Nora had been battling Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), a common lung disease that causes difficulty in breathing.

Despite the uncertainty regarding the exact cause of Nora’s passing, the family remained united in their grief, comforted by the knowledge that Nora was surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments.
