Veteran singer and former Camarines Sur vice governor Imelda Papin was visibly emotional during her visit to the wake of her dear friend and idol, Nora Aunor. The two shared a close bond, with Imelda often referring to Nora not only as her idol but also as her "kumadre."

In an emotional video shared by ABS-CBN News, Imelda recalled their final moments together, expressing her disbelief over the sudden loss of Nora, with whom she had been in constant contact. “She is my idol, my kumadre, and out of all her friends, I was one of the few who knew about her surgery,” Imelda said tearfully. “We had been communicating, and after she texted me saying she was okay and thanked me, I couldn’t believe it. We were texting every day, and then I couldn’t believe that she was gone last night.”

Imelda also shared that she was present when Nora passed away, alongside the actress's children. The moment was deeply emotional for Imelda, who reflected on Nora’s unmatched legacy in the entertainment industry. “I was there, and I witnessed her passing with her children by her side,” she said. “She was admired by all Filipinos. When it comes to music, she became a National Artist for her singing and acting. She was number one—no one can surpass her. She is the one and only Superstar.”
