Actress and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts Nora Aunor
Nora Aunor, the beloved "Superstar" and National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, passed away due to acute respiratory failure, her son, actor Ian de Leon, revealed.
In an interview with Vicky Morales and Mariz Umali on 24 Oras last Friday, Ian shared the official cause of his mother’s death. “Technically and clinically speaking, the cause of death was acute respiratory failure,” Ian stated, providing clarity on the matter.
In a press conference held on Thursday, Ian had also addressed previous speculations surrounding the cause of Nora’s death, stressing that the National Artist did not die during surgery. “She was being operated on, and after that, she had a hard time breathing, and eventually, all things went downhill from there, and that’s why they had to do another procedure after that,” Ian explained.
Nora’s passing, though deeply felt by her family and fans, was marked by her resilience and legacy in the entertainment industry. A state necrological service has been scheduled in honor of the legendary actress on April 22, 2025.
