In a heartfelt interview on
Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on May 13, Jackie Lou Blanco revealed a poignant decision she made following the death of her mother, Asia's Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales, on April 12, 2025. At the time, Ricky Davao, her estranged husband, was in the hospital and Jackie Lou chose not to inform him of the sad news.
Jackie Lou explained, “In the beginning, I was thinking, 'Should we tell him?' But my kids were saying, 'Mom, no na lang. He will feel bad pa. Huwag na lang.' So we didn’t. We opted not to. I think it would have been too much, also for him.”
Despite their separation, Jackie Lou emphasized the deep love that Ricky and her mother had for each other. She fondly remembered, “When Ricky and I got separated, yun ang hindi nawala — my mom’s love to Ricky and Ricky’s love to my mom. It was always there. That’s such a blessing to have that.”
The timing of Pilita's death was particularly difficult, as Ricky passed away almost three weeks later, on May 1, due to cancer.
Jackie Lou jokingly added that she could imagine Ricky and Pilita's reunion in heaven, continuing their musical bond. “Ang joke ko nga, since nauna si Mom, pagdating ni Ricky sa langit, sasabihin ni Ricky, ‘O, Mamita, nandito ka?’ Sabi ni Mamita, ‘O!’ Tapos sasabihin ni Ricky, 'Kanta tayo!' 'Sasabihin ng mommy ko, ‘Hanggang dito ba naman Ricky, magdu-duet pa tayo?’”
