In a stunning coincidence that has left the Maguad family in awe, an old Facebook post by Gwynn Maguad about actress Criza Taa resurfaced. This was shared exactly one month before the tragic deaths of Gwynn and her brother, Boyboy, in December 2021. The post was discovered by the story writer of Maalaala Mo Kaya while working on the episode based on the Maguad siblings' story. It was a shocking turn of events that Criza was chosen to portray Gwynn in the episode.
Lovella Orbe Maguad, in a heartfelt Facebook post, shared her deep emotions after the post was discovered and the casting decision was made:
“Only hours ago, our story writer stumbled upon a screenshot of Gwynn’s post about Criza—shared exactly a month before the brut@l k!lling. And guess what? Criza is playing Gwynn in the story. This gave the production team goosebumps.”
Lovella continued by expressing her gratitude for the love shown to Gwynn and Boyboy. She wrote, “Gwynn is Lola's girl, too... Maraming Salamat for all your love to Gwynn n Boyboy. 💔🥲 That Dodz and I are forever grateful.” The grieving mother also reflected on the pain of losing her children but vowed to continue honoring their memory.
The Maalaala Mo Kaya Mother's Day special will air as a two-part episode, where Criza Taa will play Gwynn and Dimples Romana will portray their mother. The seemingly prophetic post made by Gwynn about Criza, just weeks before the crime, has captured the attention of many. In the post, Gwynn praised and featured Criza on her Facebook, a gesture that many now see as an inexplicable yet powerful connection between the two young women.
The tragic story began in December 2021 when Crizzle Gwynn and Crizville Louis “Boyboy” Maguad were found dead inside their home in M’lang, North Cotabato. Their adopted sister, Janice (not her real name), later confessed to being involved in the cr!me. The motive behind the k!llings was reportedly intense jealousy and anger. The Maguad family continues to seek full justice for the loss of their children.
Despite the conviction of those responsible, Lovella and Cruz Maguad, the parents of the victims, still feel that the sentences handed down are insufficient. They expressed frustration, especially since one of the perpetrators remains enrolled in a public school. The Maguad family continues to demand stronger justice and a deeper respect for the memory of their children.
Dimples Romana, who plays the role of the mother in the MMK episode, described it as one of the most challenging roles of her career. She dedicated the episode to all parents who have lost children under similar tragic circumstances, especially to Lovella and Cruz Maguad, who continue to show incredible strength in the face of their grief.
