Alynna Opens Up About Family Rift with Hajji Alejandro’s Relatives and Responds to Accusations of Gold-Digging

In an emotional reveal, singer Alynna discusses the tension with some members of Hajji Alejandro’s family, affirming her genuine love and sacrifice during their 27-year relationship.
During her concert titled I’m Feeling Sexy Tonight held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Viva Café in Cubao, Quezon City, singer Alynna could not hold back her tears as she performed "Tag-araw, Tag-ulan," a hit originally by her late partner Hajji Alejandro. The screen behind her displayed photos of the couple, stirring deep emotions.

Alynna and Hajji were partners for 27 years until his passing. Their relationship faced a painful blow when Alynna was reportedly denied entry to Hajji’s wake.

In an interview with several entertainment media outlets, including PEP Troika, Alynna shared how difficult it was to sing Hajji’s popular song without breaking down, despite practicing repeatedly to hold back tears.

It’s just hard kapag bumabalik ka sa… and to this day kasi hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala,” she admitted.

Alynna on Hajji’s Family Tensions

For the first time, Alynna addressed the issue of some of Hajji Alejandro’s family members not accepting her.

Half of the family, hindi talaga ako gusto,” she revealed. “Lalo na nung naging critical si Hajji. I think, I know why.”

Though she refrained from naming names, she clarified that she was not referring to Hajji’s children Rachel and Ali Alejandro.

Si Ali and Rachel kasi reached out to me. Kasi feeling nila, last day… I thanked them. Sabi ko, ‘Thank you, tinawagan nyo ako.’”

She expressed gratitude for their respect and connection, sharing how she had thought there might be tension with Rachel.

One time she told [me], 'You know, when you were not with us na...' Her dad said na malungkot siya nang wala ako,” Alynna recalled.

Responding to Accusations of Gold-Digging

Alynna is aware that some family members may suspect her of being interested only in Hajji’s money, a claim she strongly denies.

Of all people, ako lang ang walang interes sa pera niya. Kasi yun ang iniisip ng ibang members, e.”

She revealed the sacrifices she made for Hajji, including giving up her singing career when she felt Hajji did not support her performing.

Kumbaga, ako pa lang ulit ang lumabas. But then, I felt na parang ayaw niya akong kumanta. Kasi nararamdaman ko, e, so nag-quit ako.

Almost na, e. Almost peak na ng ano ko… So, huwag na lang. Tama na. Dito na lang ako sa kanya.

And I don’t regret. It’s not like, 'Sayang, sana kumanta na ako.' Hindi.

Ang akin, I followed my heart. Happy ako.”

Career and Personal Background
Alynna gained popularity in the 2000s with double-meaning songs such as "Kahit Gaano Kalaki," "Pasumpa-Sumpa Ka Pa," "Hindi Na Masakit," and "Pinuyat Mo Ako." She recounts that before Hajji passed, she promised to return to her music career.

I think, very vocal kasi ako sa kanya. Lalo nung mawawala na siya, sinasabi ko talaga.

“'Huwag ka mag-alala sa akin. Okay lang ako.'”

Despite hardship, including financial difficulties after Hajji’s death, Alynna expressed hope and gratitude for the support of her family who took her in.

A Message to Hajji’s Family
To those who doubt her love or dislike her, Alynna said: “Tingin ko, magugustuhan po ninyo ako kung hindi ako minahal ng anak niyo or ng dad niyo?

Kasi hindi naman ako masamang tao. I think, you have a friend in me, kasi okay naman ako sa mga kaibigan ko.

Nagkataon lang na I’ve been in a relationship with your dad or your son kaya po hindi niyo talaga ako ginusto.

But, I promised Hajji that I would reach out to you. Hindi lang siguro ngayon.

Pero mararamdaman ko naman yun kapag ano… makapag-usap lang tayo, which is kalimutan na lang natin lahat.”

Gratitude and Moving Forward

Alynna expressed thanks to those who believed in her and supported her comeback, especially through concerts like I’m Feeling Sexy Tonight.

She admitted she needs to work and rebuild now that she is alone.
