Former The Voice Kids semi-finalist Karen Silva has tragically passed away at the age of 17.

Silva, who gained fame in 2020 by reaching the semi-finals of the popular Brazilian music competition show at just 12 years old, died after being hospitalized at São João Batista Hospital in Volta Redonda. The young singer suffered a hemorrhagic stroke, a condition where a blood vessel in the brain ruptures, leading to bleeding and pressure on brain cells, which causes damage.
Her death was confirmed in a heartbreaking statement shared on her official Instagram account on April 24. The post described Silva as a "symbol of empowerment," especially for Black girls who saw in her inspiration and strength to pursue their dreams. She was remembered for her powerful voice, magnetic presence, and the joy she brought to those who followed her journey.
Fans and supporters have flooded her social media with messages of love and condolences, expressing disbelief and sharing memories of her joyful spirit. Silva’s passing comes just days after a health update shared on Instagram, revealing that she was undergoing medical care.
Karen Silva began her musical journey at the age of 8, with her first vocal coach recalling her captivating performance of "Oh Happy Day" after just a few lessons. Silva is survived by her parents, Manoella and Fernando.
