During the 2025 NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders, a former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback, received a prank call from someone impersonating New Orleans Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis.

The caller falsely informed Sanders that he would be selected with the team's next pick, only to retract the statement moments later. The incident was captured on video and quickly drew widespread attention.

The prankster was later identified as 21-year-old Jax Ulbrich, son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.

Jax had obtained Sanders' private phone number from his father's unattended iPad while visiting his parents' home.

He publicly admitted to the prank and issued an apology on Instagram, stating, "On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake. Shedeur, what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing and shameful."

He further expressed regret, adding, "I'm so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish. I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life and having someone ruin it like that."

Jax also confirmed that he had personally apologized to Sanders over the phone.

The Atlanta Falcons acknowledged the situation, confirming Jax’s involvement and clarifying that Jeff Ulbrich had no knowledge of the incident.

The team condemned the behavior and offered apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family.

Despite the disruption, Sanders remained composed when addressing the media.

"It didn't really have an impact on me because it was just like, I knew it wasn't real," he said.

He added, "I think, of course, it was childish, but I didn't take it personally."
