Gwen Stefani recently revealed that the key to her happy marriage with Blake Shelton involves the support of a "third party," which, according to the singer, is God.
Stefani and Shelton began dating in 2015 after both of their divorces, and they tied the knot in 2021. The couple met as coaches on the hit reality show The Voice in 2014 during its seventh season.

An insider shared with People back when their relationship began, “Blake and Gwen have started dating. They've been supporting each other through a tough time and are truly happy together. Everyone is thrilled because they’re both incredibly nice people.”
Fast forward to today, and their relationship is still going strong. Stefani recently shared her thoughts on love and marriage during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show. When asked for the best relationship advice she’s received, Stefani replied, “Best advice would probably be, make sure you have a third party,” before pointing upwards, signaling God as the key to their connection.
Stefani, who has always been open about her faith, even promoted the Catholic prayer app Hallow during the holiday season.
In the same interview, Stefani shared a peek into her home life with Shelton. “I have the dogs right here; we have two couches... Blake’s on that couch and we’re like, ‘Hi,’” she said. She added humorously, “I would sit next to him, but he’s gigantic, and we don’t fit anywhere.”
Shelton has embraced his role as a stepfather to Stefani’s three sons from a previous marriage. In fact, he even stepped away from his role as a coach on The Voice in 2022 to focus more on family and parenting duties, despite not having biological children of his own.
He expressed his commitment to his stepchildren, telling People: “Even though I’m a stepparent, I take that job very seriously. The kids see me as a very important person in their life. If I walked away from my career at this time, the only thing that I risk is having regrets about missing out on more important things in life. For now, that’s our kids. This isn’t about me anymore and never will be again.”
Stefani also shared some personal insights during the quick-fire segment of her interview with Barrymore. When asked about her favorite love song, she revealed it wasn’t one of her own tracks, but Shania Twain’s “Still the One,” calling it “a perfect song.”
At home, Stefani describes herself as a "date night in" kind of person, adding, “I’m literally like — couch, blanket, cookies, chips.”
Stefani’s and Shelton’s relationship continues to thrive, with both sharing deep bonds, faith, and a commitment to their family life. Their love story, from their meeting on The Voice to their marriage and blended family, remains an example of love and dedication in the public eye.
