Carla Abellana recently became a victim of a food delivery scam after a rider failed to deliver her order, despite the fact that she had already paid for it.
Abellana took to Threads to share the unfortunate incident, revealing that she almost fell for a trick where a supposed second rider called her, claiming to deliver her order but demanding payment again via cash on delivery (COD).

"I just got s:cammed by a [foodpanda_ph] rider. Not only did he fail to deliver our paid order, but a supposed second rider called me to say he was delivering our order but I needed to pay COD (cash on delivery). Wow," she wrote in her post, expressing her disbelief over the situation.

In response, many netizens took to the comments section, sharing similar negative experiences and urging Abellana to report the s:cam to the food delivery service in order to be refunded. They also suggested that the rider be held accountable for the fraudulent act.
"Report it to food panda so they can refund you and the rider will be dismissed," one commenter advised.

This incident has sparked conversations on social media, with others revealing their own similar stories of being s:cammed by food delivery riders. Many emphasized the importance of taking action to prevent such s:cams from happening again.
In a similar vein, actress Kristine Hermosa's sister, Kathleen, shared her frustration last month after allegedly being s:cammed by an online seller. According to Hermosa, Kathleen had lost almost ₱2,000 after paying in advance for a product that was never delivered.
"For a sausage, it’s not cheap. Paid 1,900+ for it. They are great with their modus," Kathleen wrote on Facebook, lamenting the loss. "Solution on my part, I prayed for the s:cammer. I hope the money fed you and your family. I also prayed that you try to find a dignified job because all the money you guys s:cammed is all hard-earned money."
Both Abellana's and Hermosa’s experiences highlight the growing concern over s:cams in various forms, from food delivery to online shopping. As more people share their stories of falling v:ictim to fraudulent activities, it’s clear that there is a pressing need for awareness and stricter regulations to protect consumers from such deceptive practices.
