Carlos Fresco had always considered Monty more than just a dog. For him, Monty was a best friend, a confidant, and an irreplaceable part of his family. Over the course of 10 years, their bond had grown stronger each day, with Monty by his side through both joyous and difficult moments. They were inseparable, sharing everything from quiet evenings to the occasional adventure in the park.

But like many dog owners, Carlos knew that the day would eventually come when their time together would end. As Monty reached the age of 10, Carlos noticed the subtle signs of aging—slower walks, a little more stiffness, and an occasional tired gaze. He could see that his loyal friend was no longer the energetic pup he once was. But despite the changes, Carlos never wavered in his devotion.

One fateful day, Monty’s health took a turn for the worse. Carlos took him to the vet, where they were given the heartbreaking news: Monty had reached the end of his journey. Carlos was devastated, but he knew what he had to do. He wasn’t going to let Monty face his final moments alone. Carlos made the decision to give Monty the one last gift of love and comfort, one that only a true friend could offer.

In the final days, Carlos made sure to spend every moment with Monty. He took him on one last walk through their favorite park, where Monty had chased countless balls and greeted other dogs with enthusiasm. They sat under the old oak tree, the one they’d spent hours resting beneath during their many adventures. Carlos talked to Monty about all the good times they’d shared, telling him how much he’d meant, how his presence had filled Carlos’s life with joy and meaning.

On the day of Monty’s passing, Carlos decided to take one final journey with him. He laid Monty gently in the backseat of his car and drove to a peaceful, quiet spot by the lake where they had often gone for morning walks. Carlos held Monty’s paw in his hands, softly whispering words of love and gratitude for the years of companionship. As the sun began to set, Carlos knew that while Monty’s time on this earth had come to an end, their bond would remain forever.

Carlos said goodbye to his friend, but the love they shared would never fade. Monty had taught him the true meaning of loyalty, love, and what it meant to be a friend. And even though Monty was no longer physically by his side, Carlos knew that the memories and the unconditional love they shared would stay with him forever.

Monty received a leukemia diagnosis and underwent chemotherapy treatment. Regrettably, the leukemia recurred, significantly compromising his health.



Fresco became aware that his dear friend Monty was nearing the end of his life and was experiencing a significant amount of suffering. Fresco was determined to ensure that Monty’s remaining days were enjoyable, as he profoundly cared for him and loved him unconditionally.



He resolved to accompany Monty to their preferred locations and spend playtime with him. He loaded Monty into a wheelbarrow and transported him to all of the locations they had previously visited. The wheelbarrow comfortably accommodated Monty.



It was a deeply moving experience to witness Fresco lead Monty to locations where they had shared joyful recollections. They embarked on mountain treks and summits, and numerous hikers and strangers joined them to provide Monty with companionship. It was evident that Monty was exceedingly pleased during these excursions.



Monty enjoyed hiking, and his preferred excursion was to the summit of a mountain in Wales. Fresco stated that this was his tribute to Monty, who was a genuinely happy individual who brought joy to those around him.



Many individuals are deeply saddened by the passing of Monty on June 21, 2021. Fresco continues to cherish the enjoyable experiences he shared with Monty and appreciates their friendship. We pray that Monty may rest in peace.
