I’m sure there are many of out there who may find yourself “forgetting” to drink water until you’re actually parched and thirsty. Well, water is plain and tasteless, right?
How about you then add in some ingredients into your water, to give it just a little flavor, while also increasing its health benefits! Yes, even water can be made healthy!
Let’s talk about some ways you can make you water healthy and flavorful!
Here are 10 ingredients you can add into water to make it healthy:
1. Ginger
Ginger can help flush out the harmful toxins from the body, when consumed. It has high antioxidant properties that can promote better skin health and even out skin tone.
The consumption of ginger water can also help lower the levels of bad cholesterol in the body and can promote weight loss as well. It can also reduce pain and inflammation if mild.
To make the ginger water: Boil 2 tbsp of grated ginger in two litres of water and simmer for 10 mins, consume this water through out the day.
You can also add 1 tsp of fresh ginger juice into 2 glasses of water and simmer for 5 mins. Strain the ginger and consume.
2. A Herbal Tea Bag
Herbal tea can help promote better immunity, reduce the risk of heart diseases, improve digestion, enhance skin healthy and protect the body from diseases.
To make the herbal tea water: Into a litre of hot water, add in 3 to 4 herbal tea bags and let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain, cool and transfer into a bottle to consume whenever you want to.
3. Aloe Vera Juice
Can help reduce GERD (gastro-intestinal acid reflux), keep blood sugar levels in check, can promote better digestive health and can also detoxify the body.
To make the aloe vera water: Into a cup of water, add in 20 ml of fresh aloe vera juice. Stir and its ready to consume.
4. Honey
Honey water can help improve digestion, keep you hydrated, improve bodily immunity, promote weight loss, improve skin health and can also heal sore muscles as it has anti-inflammatory properties.
To make the honey water: Into a cup of warm water, add in 1 teaspoon of honey and its ready to drink.
5. Lemon Juice
Lemon water can help aid digestion, keep one’s weight in check, can prevent the formation of kidney stones and also has cancer fighting properties. Lemon juice is rich in vitamin C and can help build one’s body immunity as well.
To make the lemon water: Into a cup of water, squeeze in half of fresh lemon juice. Give it a mix and consume it in the morning.
6. Cucumber
Cucumber water helps keep the body hydrated and can also aid weight loss. It has properties to keep cancer and other illnesses at bay. it can also help promote better skin and bone health.
To make the cucumber water: Into a litre of water, add in around 15 to 20 quarter inch slices of cucumber. Let it sit for an hour or overnight. drink the spa water throughout the day and the cucumber can be eaten.
you can also blend 1/2 cucumber with 1/2 cup of water and some mint leaves for a cooling summer drink.
7. Mint
Mint water can help naturally detox the body, while also aiding the body with natural electrolytes.
t can also help prevent and treat constipation. Mint water can also help aid digestion and prevent bloating.
To make the mint water: Into a litre of water, add in 20 mint leaves and boil for 10 minutes (simmer on low heat). Strain, cool and the water is ready to consume whenever you wish to.
8. Turmeric
Turmeric water can help reduce appetite for those looking to lose weight, can help rev up body metabolism, treat cold and flu and can also build immunity.
To make the turmeric water: Into a cup of warm water, add in 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder along with a pinch of black pepper. Give it a mix and it’s ready to consume.
9. Chia Seeds
As chia seeds are loaded with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties, it can help keep the skin healthy.
Chia seeds are rich in fibre and can help one with a good digestion. It can also help promote weight loss and reduce the risk of many diseases including heart disease, osteoporosis, cancer, etc.
To make the chia water: Into a cup of water, add in 2 tsp of chia seeds. Stir well and Let it sit for 20 – 30 minutes for the seeds to swell up. Consume the water along with the seeds.
10. Saffron
Saffron are rich in antioxidants and can help keep the body healthy. They can also reduce the risk of developing diseases like diabetes, heart disease etc.
To make the saffron water: Place few strands of saffron in a cup. Cover with hot water and close the lid. Steep for at least 10 minutes.
