WHY YOU SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE H@TING ON TAYLOR SWIFT – A MESSAGE TO PARENTS AND FANS ALIKE

Why h@ting on Taylor Swift sends a d@ngerous message to our kids. Learn about her impact and why we should support her, not tear her down.
It’s easy to get caught up in the noise of the internet, where negativity often drowns out the positive. But when it comes to public figures like Taylor Swift, the hate seems to be disproportionately loud. Recently, I’ve noticed something disturbing, and as a parent, it’s something I can’t ignore. It’s not just about Taylor being a pop culture icon, but what her critics fail to understand — our kids are watching.

You may not be a fan of her music or her public persona, and that’s fine. But where do we draw the line? Why does "not being a fan" automatically give anyone the right to belittle or judge her for simply existing and living her life? When you criticize Taylor Swift, you’re not just criticizing a successful artist; you’re telling your children that it’s okay to judge others for the way they choose to live, love, and be happy.

Let’s talk numbers. Taylor Swift has amassed 324 awards over her career. That’s more than most of us will ever achieve. On top of that, she has brought an astounding $5 billion to the economy. Leaders from other countries beg her to perform there. The sheer influence she has cannot be overstated. But it doesn’t stop there. Did you know that there are over 20 college courses dedicated to her work, taught at prestigious universities like Harvard and UC Berkeley? It’s not just her music—it’s her artistry, her lyrics, and her contribution to the music industry that’s being celebrated.

Beyond her work as an artist, Swift has quietly donated large sums to local food banks in every city she performs in. Her charitable acts aren’t for the spotlight, but for the people who need help. Yet, this is often overlooked by the public eye.

Here’s where it gets truly personal. Swift was sexually assaulted by a radio DJ, and when he sued her for $3 million for defamation, she counter-sued for a symbolic $1. She fought for justice, not because of money but to prove to the world that doing what’s right doesn’t have a price tag. She did this to show women that silence in the face of oppression has no place in society.

So, why should you care? Because your kids are watching. They’re watching you tear down a woman who has fought for what she believes in, who has changed lives, who has created millions of jobs, and who inspires women everywhere to be unapologetically themselves. Your daughters, nieces, and nephews are learning from what you say and how you act. When you hate on Taylor Swift, you're teaching them that it's okay to hate others for no reason.

As a father, I believe it’s time we do better. We must teach our children, especially our sons, to respect women and our daughters to understand that they, too, have every right to take up space in this world. Let’s change our narrative and be better role models for the next generation. If we don’t, we risk teaching them to perpetuate the same negativity that we, as a society, need to let go of.

So next time you feel the urge to add to the hate, think about who’s listening, and remember: every action we take shapes the world for our children.
