Sandy Andolong talks about her relationship with Christopher de Leon and Nora Aunor
Sandy Andolong and Christopher de Leon have been in a relationship for over four decades, but there was a time when their marriage faced significant challenges.
In a candid conversation during the latest episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Sandy shared details about a difficult period in her marriage when she left their home. "There was a time I left him. We had two boys at that time, Rafael and Miguel. I left the house because things were chaotic. It was too much already. It was beginning to have a really bad effect on my two children at that time. So I left Christopher," Sandy recalled.
She continued, “Christopher was shocked. When he came home, I was already gone."
After leaving, Sandy took refuge in a convent for a week, seeking solace and guidance. "I was praying and asking God for direction," she shared. This time apart led to a significant turning point in their relationship. Sandy said Christopher later decided to "surrender" his life to Jesus.
The couple eventually attended a Life in the Spirit Seminar (LSS) together, with Christopher expressing his desire to restore their family. “He kept telling me, 'No, I want this to work. I don’t want to lose you. I don’t want to lose the boys. I want to have a complete family,’” Sandy explained. Both Christopher and Sandy come from broken families, which further fueled their desire to build a stronger, unified family.
Their reconciliation was marked by their participation in the Oasis retreat, which helped them rebuild their relationship and find stability.
Christopher and Sandy got married in 2001 but had been together since 1980. In 2022, they celebrated their 42nd anniversary. The couple renewed their vows in 2019 in a beautiful ceremony in Halong Bay, Vietnam. They share five children: Rafael, Miguel, Gabriel, Mariel, and Mica.
Sandy Andolong has also shared insights into her civil relationship with Nora Aunor, the former wife of her husband, Christopher de Leon. Speaking on "Fast Talk With Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, Sandy opened up about the dynamics between her and Nora.
While the two haven't met in a while, Sandy expressed that their interactions are cordial. "Whenever we meet, it's fine," she said. "It's more of 'Hi, hello,' just a little exchange," she added when asked about their conversations.
Regarding her relationship with Nora's children, whom Christopher de Leon adopted during their marriage, Sandy expressed affection for them. Sandy recalled a meaningful conversation with Lotlot de Leon, one of Nora and Christopher’s adopted children. She shared, "I understand how you feel, but I need you to know your mother is your mother and I can never replace her, but I can be a good friend to you." Sandy added, "I told her, 'I'm not taking your dad from you, don't ever think that.'"
