Christopher de Leon visited the wake of his late ex-wife, Nora Aunor, in an emotional moment as he reunited with their children at Heritage Park in Taguig. The actor, known for his remarkable career, shared tearful embraces with his children and colleagues, honoring the memory of the iconic star.
A video shared by Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) spokesperson and publicist Noel Ferrer on April 19 shows de Leon arriving at the wake with a solemn expression. He was seen holding his children Ian and Lotlot close, as they shared emotional hugs. The video also captured the actor, along with Ian, standing solemnly by Aunor’s coffin, paying their final respects.
Nora Aunor, known for her immense contribution to the Filipino entertainment industry, married Christopher de Leon in 1975. Together, they had one biological child, Ian, and adopted four other children: Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth. Although they renewed their vows in 1976, their marriage was dissolved 20 years later. In 2001, de Leon married actress Sandy Andolong.
The wake for Aunor, held from April 17 to April 21 at Heritage Park in Taguig, allowed the public to honor the late artist on April 19 and 20. On April 22, Aunor will be given a state funeral, marking the final chapter of her legacy. She will be laid to rest at Libingan ng mga Bayani, a departure from tradition, as her final resting place was not at the Vatican but at a national hero’s cemetery, reflecting her status as a cultural and cinematic icon.
