Bruno Mars has firmly cemented his status as one of the most accomplished pop music creators, with multiple chart-topping hits to his name. But even a seasoned hitmaker knows that another smash hit only adds to the legacy. The chart-topping artist is once again at No. 1 this week, joined by Lady Gaga on their collaborative track "Die With a Smile," which holds its position at the top of the Billboard Global 200. Not only does the song remain a global favorite, but it also marks a new personal achievement for Mars.

"Die With a Smile" Holds Strong at No. 1
This week, "Die With a Smile" stays put at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, a ranking that combines streaming and sales data to determine the most popular songs worldwide. The dynamic duo of Gaga and Mars finds themselves in a familiar position as this marks the song’s thirteenth nonconsecutive week at the top.
Bruno Mars Breaks His Own Record
Just last week, "Die With a Smile" tied with Mars’s previous record for the longest-running No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, which was held by his collaboration with Blackpink's Rosé, titled "Apt." The song had previously enjoyed 12 weeks at the summit earlier this year and last year.
Now, Mars has surpassed his own record. "Die With a Smile" has become his longest-leading global hit to date, and with its continued popularity, it seems likely to hold its place for a while longer.
Mariah Carey and Harry Styles Still Ahead
Although Mars and Gaga are dominating the charts, there are still a couple of records they have yet to surpass. Mariah Carey’s holiday classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" remains the longest-running No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200, having spent 19 weeks at the top. Every December, the festive hit climbs back to the top, extending Carey’s chart success.
Just behind her is Harry Styles, whose hit "As It Was" spent 15 weeks at No. 1, making it the second-longest-running top song in the history of the ranking.
"Die With a Smile" Ties with a Special Record
With 13 weeks at the top, "Die With a Smile" now ties for the third-longest-running No. 1 hit in the history of the Billboard Global 200, alongside Miley Cyrus’s "Flowers," which also held the position for 13 weeks in 2023.
A New Week Could Change the Rankings Again
If "Die With a Smile" continues its dominance, it will surpass "Flowers" and stand alone as the third-longest reigning No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200. However, there’s a slight twist—Mars might end up in a tie with himself again.
His other hit, "Apt.," featuring Rosé, is currently ranked No. 2 on the Billboard Global 200. Should it make a comeback and return to No. 1, it would join "Die With a Smile" at 13 weeks at the top.
